I wonder if Republicans get it

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have run a combined 163,032 political ads on cable spending roughly $6.5 million. Compare these with the CMAG numbers for Broadcast having Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton running 68,742 spots on broadcast for roughly $46.4 Million.

70% of the commercials are running on local cable networks and 30% are running on local broadcast tv stations.

I'm no expert but the story behind these numbers seems to be the direct result of precise micro-targeting capabilities that using local cable provides - not to mention the declining ratings in viewership of local news on broadcast tv stations.

Micro-targeting Voters Is Where It's At

Interesting to note that the two top Democratic contenders are buying spot cable (locally) to microtarget voters.  Hillary Clinton is buying up spotcable in California and Barack Obama is buying up spotcable in Tennesee. Hopefully our GOP counterparts are taking notice.
